I'm very excited to announce the extension of my new musical salon, "Morphium Kabarett!" Premiering on May 2nd at NYC's premier intimate nightspot, Pangea, and running Mondays in May, we were thrilled to receive extremely positive reviews, and packed houses, leading to further dates on June 27, July 6 and July 13, all at 7PM.
I'm very proud to have presented extremely special guest performers throughout Morphium Kabarett's May run, including the legendary Joey Arias, countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo, supreme Piaf évocateur Gay Marshall, NYC Cabaret royalty KT Sullivan, Australian cabaret/opera star Ali McGregor, and downtown darling Erin Markey, among many wonderful others.
Described as “the David Bowie of cabaret” (BroadwayWorld.com), host and curator Kim David Smith conjures the glitter, doom, and decadence of 1920’s Berlin with “Morphium Kabarett,” a weekly, Monday night salon featuring special musical guests from the worlds of opera, cabaret, pop (and beyond), including baritone, Todd Murray, Gay Marshall, Amber Martin, Molly Pope, Melissa Citro, and many others!
Named for the sensual, Spoliansky-penned waltz (famously danced to by a nude Anita Berber), Morphium Kabarett is musically directed by Tracy Stark (“Superb, virtuosic pianist” - New York Post), and features the music of Hollaender, Weill, and Spoliansky, mixed with Kylie Minogue, the Supremes, and myriad unexpected others, in a neo-Weimar cabaret fantasia.
Morphium Kabarett at Pangea (178 2nd Ave, NYC) June 27, July 6, and July 13, 7PM.
