Last week's Morphium Kabarett was an absolute blast, with the legendary Joey Arias, Australia’s Ali McGregor, and opera’s William Ferguson serving a truly intoxicating evening of cabaret, classical music, and convivial chaos:
Join me on MAY 9 in conjuring the glitter, doom, and decadence of 1920’s Berlin with “Morphium Kabarett,” the continuation of my weekly, Monday night salon featuring special musical guests from the worlds of opera, cabaret, pop, and beyond! Monday, May 9 continues my new residency at NYC's gorgeously intimate Pangea (178 2nd Avenue), with extra special guests including the wonderful ERIN MARKEY, pop practitioner JORDAN HALL, and the singular MOLLY POPE!
Named for the sensual, Spoliansky-penned waltz (famously danced to by a naked Anita Berber), Morphium Kabarett is musically directed by Tracy Stark (“Superb, virtuosic pianist” - New York Post), with Matt Schafglass on bass, and features the music of Hollaender, Weill, and Spoliansky, mixed with Kylie Minogue, the Supremes, and myriad unexpected others, in a neo-Weimar cabaret fantasia.
Throughout the rest of May I'll be sharing the stage with KT Sullivan, Alexis Fishman, Todd Murray, Jennifer Rivera, Gay Marshall, Karen Kohler, and Anthony Roth Costanzo, among others!
Morphium Kabarett at Pangea (178 2nd Ave, NYC) May 9, 16, and 23, 9:30PM. $20 General Admission presale tickets, $25 at the door (cash only). www.pangeanyc.com / www.kimdavidsmith.com for more information.
